shapeimage_3Shreya Navile, daughter of Deepti and Uday Navile, has been a student of Bharathanatyam since the age of 4 under the able guidance of her mother, Deepti Mukund Navile, and more recently under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan, Director of Nupura, Bangalore. She has performed at several prestigious dance programs in India and the USA. Shreya has a keen interest in singing and learnt Carnatic music from Guru. Smt Usha Char, Nadatarangini, USA and was a part of the Show Choir at Churchill High School.

Some of the notable dance venues where Shreya has performed include the Maha Shivarathri celebrations in Bangalore and Washington, DC, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Founder’s Day celebrations, International dance festivals at Wolf Trap, Millennium Stage in Kennedy Center, National Cherry Blossom festivals at Smithsonian, Dance DC and Dance Asia festivals, Washington Folk Life festivals and at a host of US State and Government agencies including NASA, Dept. of Defense, United States Coast Guard, Dept. of Labour, and others.

Shreya has won several awards including three consecutive first prizes at the annual solo dance competition organized by IDEA (Indian Dance Educators Association) in the DC metro area and the first prize in the National Reflections Talent Competition for the State of Maryland in 2005 and the 2014 for Montgomery County. She is also interested in theater and singing and has acted in numerous plays. She participated at the Shakespeare Monologue 2011 event held at the Imagination Stage in Bethesda, MD. She was auditioned and cast for the Blast from the Past 2011 & 2013- a major production at her school.

Shreya also has a flair for different dance forms Folk, Bollywood, Contemporary and Hip Hop. She was selected in Indian Regional Dance based TV shows – “Chinnara Loka”, “Hejjege Ondu Gejje” and the Dance India Dance Little Masters Contest where she auditioned and was in the top 32 for India!

Shreya is currently a sophmore at Boston Conservatory and a member of the Natyabhoomi Dance Company. In 2015, she presented her solo work called Ritu Mala – The Seasons of Love.

She also premiered a her mixed media dance presentation “Kanya” at the Indian Dance Educators Association Festival – Kalpana in November 2016.
