Natyabhoomi offers instruction in the Mysore style of Bharathanatyam and Indian folk dance. We follow the MCPS academic calendar for holidays and breaks, with classes running across three trimesters each year. We expect a minimum commitment of two classes per week.
Introduction to Bharathanatyam — adavus (fundamental footwork and hand gestures), basic posture, rhythm, and the foundational grammar of classical Indian dance.
Building on foundation skills — varnam, jatiswaram, and abhinaya (expressive storytelling). Students begin participating in school productions and community events.
Intensive preparation toward the solo debut recital. Deepens mastery of the complete repertoire, stage presence, and nuanced artistic expression.
All holidays and breaks follow the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) yearly calendar.

"Natya" Summer Dance Camp
Contact us for current class timings and tuition details.
Our beloved summer programme for students at all levels. An immersive week of Bharathanatyam, folk dance, music, costume, and cultural education. Offered every summer from May through July.
Natyabhoomi regularly invites accomplished artists and gurus from India to teach workshops at the studio — a rare opportunity for students to learn directly from masters of the tradition.
Focused multi-day intensives to deepen technique, prepare for upcoming performances, or work on a specific piece or style. Open to intermediate and advanced students.
Students learn not just to dance, but to produce a show — lighting, sound, stagecraft, costume, and coordination. A complete arts education behind the curtain as well as on stage.
